How to Get the Most Out Of Your Training

Focus

Attendance at all sessions and classes is compulsory. This includes all evening classes and also the meals. You are a mature, experienced Christian leader with much to contribute in class. It will be an encouragement to the Facilitators and the participants to have your input. Remember that every participant is required to stay until the end of the course. Departure before the conclusion of the program is not permitted except in extreme emergencies.

Use rest periods

There are 6 hours of classroom activities 6 days a week. The schedule is intense. Participants should organise their time wisely and stay healthy. In view of the intensive schedule, participants are strongly advised to rest during the afternoon break. Maximise the outdoor open space for relaxation, walking, meditation, prayer, or group activities and sports.

Don't be passive

The Facilitators act only as catalysts and expect some discussion in the class. Please be prepared to enter fully into the discussions. Occasionally, the details of a topic will not be directly relevant to you - but the principles behind it will apply to everybody.

Keep a diary

Endeavour to keep a daily diary or journal of the most important lessons or insights that you have gained from the sessions. Writing things down is of first importance.

Be sociable

Mingle as much as you can with participants from different countries. Meals are a good time for conversation and getting to know one another, especially those from different cultures. Do not keep to your national group.

Look to the future

At the seminar, each participant is required to prepare Action Plans based on their Goals. Before you leave, you will be required to write out the strategies by which you will achieve those goals.

PKTT - Please Keep To Time!

Living Together

Food

Meals are provided in the dining hall from a fixed menu/buffet every day. It is impossible to have food that suits everyone. However, years of experience have enabled us to set menus agreeable to most participants. The buffet provides a choice at every meal.
Learning to eat unfamiliar foods is part of the intercultural learning experience. If you have special dietary restrictions, written medical evidence must be submitted along with your Health Certificate.

Respect

You will be rooming with a person from a different country, with a different culture and different personal habits. Please let mutual respect, understanding and love control all your attitudes and actions. Courtesy, understanding and co-operation will greatly enhance the benefit of the training.

Tobacco and alcohol

Smoking is a health hazard and is not permitted. Drinking alcoholic beverages is not acceptable in many cultures, and so we ask you not to bring alcohol into the centres.

What To Do After the Session

Tremendous financial investment has been made in you because we believe you are the right person. Multiply this investment for your own growth and the promotion of God's kingdom in your own land.

Change

Determine the areas of your life - in particular, your style of leadership and your approach to witnessing - that need to be changed and improved.

Pass on your training

Plan to transmit the training that is most relevant to your country and community to at least 100 faithful leaders as soon as possible. You are reminded that Haggai Institute requires each participant to remain in his/her country for two years after the programme, in order for relevant materials to be passed on. Maximise your training to the fullest for the sake of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Please keep us informed

Reports of your activities are very valuable to the Institute and to other alumni. Please keep us up to date on your achievements, with pictures if possible.

Use of Haggai Institute materials

If you wish to translate any of the Institute's published materials into your own language, please secure written permission from the Institute FIRST. Two copies of the translated work must be sent to the Institute. Remember that copyright laws protect the name "Haggai" and the H.I. logo. Do NOT use them unless you have written permission from us.

Look for future participants

You are a link to future good participants. You know what the seminar offers and expects from those who attend. Please help us by recommending other leaders - outside your immediate family or organisational circle - who would benefit from H.I. training. Your recommendation will be given due consideration by the Selection Committee.

Contact other alumni

Your country may already have many H.I. alumni. An increasing number of countries have an active H.I. Alumni Association. We suggest that you make contact as soon as you return home.
